Layla is a professionally trained musical theatre actress based in New York City, born and raised in New Jersey. Layla was most recently seen spreading Christmas cheer onboard The Polar Express Train Ride in Whippany, NJ. She is frequently performing in various cabarets around the city at places like 54 Below and Don’t Tell Mama. Prior to that, Layla hilariously commanded the stage as Little Sally in The Secret Theater’s production of Urinetown. Layla has sung with various choirs at iconic venues, such as Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall.
Layla graduated from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) with a certificate in Musical Theatre. While at AMDA, Layla was exposed to a plethora of material that not only strengthened her versatility as an actress, but deepend her love for the craft. She studied and performed song selections as roles like Jenna from Waitress to Sally Brown from You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. Layla’s favorite types of roles to play are those who have an inspiring story to tell. Layla is drawn to pieces that highlight queer characters and is most passionate about work that contributes to breaking the mental health stigma.
Layla fell in love with the stage ever since their starring role as Gertrude McFuzz in their third grade production of Seussical Jr. Since then, they have had the privilege of seeing over 200 Broadway shows and have been inspired by each and every one. Being surrounded by theatre all their life cultivated the passion and drive that they have for performing now, and nothing makes them happier than sharing that passion with the rest of the world!
